lyrics
i ripped it all apart one day
my dreams told me that was okay
a still, silent night’s what i crave
but the noises in my ears will stay
they said it was set in stone
i said, it’s just a rock, not like my own bones
you can pick it up, there won’t be a sound
like the pecan tree that we both knocked down
i can’t live the way i wanna live
the feeling’s just too much, something’s gotta give
i could numb myself, or not live at all
like a dumb idea, destined to fall

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer

Simple unassuming lo-fi pop? Initially I thought so, but I’m not sure. There’s something deliberately artful and captivating in these compositions. They simply fill a musical space that’s been empty for a long long time. Gordon Frisbie

Terrific jangle pop with an edge, somewhere between Television Personalities and R.E.M. with a bit of Kinks in there, too. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 2, 2023
